Dear Pharmacist,
I take loratadine all spring because of my allergies to pollen and grass. Is that the best antihistamine and are there natural ones?
Dear Pharmacist,
You've said that if you have twitches, leg cramps, spasms or heart arrhythmias that you could be deficient in acid. What does this mean? I am taking an acid pill myself for reflux.
Dear Readers,
I'm going to blog today, there's no Q & A format today (question and answer) and the reason is because I have to speak my piece. I've gotten some flack from endocrinologists who disagree with some of the comments made by myself or my Presenters for the "summit" I held recently which aired worldwide over the Internet. I recorded presenters and we shared the truth about the best tests, the most effective medications, excellent laboratories and helpful...
Dear Pharmacist,
I've been fainting (or almost fainting) several times a year for the last 6 years, and no one has been able to figure out why. I've done every scan on my brain and arteries, and everything is normal. I take two blood pressure medications, something for depression and thyroid. What can you say to someone prone to fainting?
Dear Pharmacist,
What does it mean when it says "take on an empty stomach" or "take with food" because I never adhere to those warnings and I'm still alive. Does it really matter?
Dear Pharmacist,
I have chronic pain and take ibuprofen daily plus hydrocodone and celecoxib. I'm willing to do anything right now that could help. The craziest thing is that nothing happened to me, I just developed pain over the years, no accidents, no trauma. Can you help me?
Dear Pharmacist,
I have neuropathies all over my body, it feels like pins and needles. I take pain medications. Is there anything natural I can do or take?
Dear Pharmacist,
I take 4 different medications now. Lately, I've had stomach pain, insomnia, headaches and dizziness. I am sure it's related to my medicine. What should I do, stop everything?
Dear Pharmacist,
I had to get a colonoscopy last month, and fortunately, everything is okay but it made me worry about colon cancer. My doctor recommended a stool softener and laxative for me if it gets bad. What else do you suggest for colon health?
Dear Pharmacist,
Recently I saw a major network news program about researchers looking for drugs to prevent Alzheimer’s. The doctors interviewed held out so little hope and it really upset me that they didn’t suggest diet and exercise. Both my parents had dementia. I’m scared of it happening to me.
Dear Pharmacist,
I take Synthroid for my thyroid condition and also Wellbutrin for depression. I am in pretty good health other than my hair still coming out, and I have cold hands and feet, but I feel better overall. What else can I take or do to help myself?
Dear Pharmacist,
Two of my relatives have pancreatic cancer, and I’m worried sick for myself. No symptoms yet, but is there anything I can share with them, or take myself?
Dear Pharmacist,
What are popular medications, and their natural counterparts?
Dear Pharmacist,
I have brain fog, attention deficit and a general feeling of disconnection to the world. I take the drugs Provigil, Zoloft and Clonazepam. I also take vitamins but nothing helps. I see a psychiatrist who says I’m just depressed from my divorce. Honestly, I’m not, I’m pretty normal but my brain feels weird.
Dear Pharmacist,
Everyone in my family gets sick, what can I do to help myself?
Dear Pharmacist,
I'm frustrated and happy at the same time because last week you taught me about a blood test called "leptin" and how it relates obesity. I've been the same weight for 5 years and can't lose anything, yet I eat very little. Please share more.
Dear Pharmacist,
I'm taking a prescription drug version of fish oils for my heart and cholesterol. I want a plant-derived option because I'm a vegetarian, plus I get "fish burp." Are there plant-derived essential fatty acids, or do you have to get it from fish?
Dear Readers,
I want to get healthy this year. I have all sorts of problems that plague me and curious to know if you were my "doctor" what labs would you have me do to uncover the root cause?
Dear Readers,
Here are some interesting FDA-approved items for 2013 in the United States. My column is printed in various languages so I apologize that I've only listed English brand names, please ask your local pharmacist for translations. Happy new year!
Dear Pharmacist,
You said that some drugs are related to fluoride and may cause hypothyroidism or other diseases of the reproductive tract. Which medications and why?
